Adult photos

Has CCB ever considered offering lifetime photos like some other companies?

  • Hi Timesinfinity -

We have certainly considered it, but have opted against it for a number of reasons.

Most importantly, we feel that protecting the donor's privacy is very important in recruiting the best donors possible. The banks that offer adult photos have very few options. We prefer to offer over 300 highly qualified donors for our clients to choose from.

We understand the importance pictures play in donor selection and are in the process of expanding our baby photos to include childhood photos as well.

  • I love California more than the other banks I've looked into which all came recommended by my doctor. I do feel, however, that there needs to be at least a baby pic from toddler age too. The donor I selected had 1 picture from maybe a month old and it's extremely hard to know what they look like. I do understand that you guys give several facial features reports...but with the expensive costs we should have acces to a couple of baby photos or even up to the age of 5...

When you look to marry...looks are important so creating a child with an unknown is tough. I would suggest updating the baby photo selections.

    Thanks
  • We agree!

We have been in the process of compiling Childhood Photo(s) for each donor for the last year. We hope to have the program ready for release by September.

The photos will range from 6 months to 12 years old. Unfortunately, we will not have photos for all the existing donors who are already retired, but moving forward we should be able to offer significantly more intersting pictures to help with donor selection.

We are doing our best to have as many photos as possible for the release. Stay tuned for more information!

    Thanks for the input,

  • Thanks Scott, I'm really hoping that you will get one for donor 11255. I think that lots of poeple want this so that they will know how their child will look, but I also think it will be nice to give to my child when he/she gets older. Kids wonder so much about where they came from. I was surprised my donor didn't come with a baby pic because he's an open donor. I found that odd since he didn't mind being contacted when the child turns 18. Anyway, I'm babbling now. Thanks
  • Hi faith -

It is absolutely a resonable question. Publishing a photo and being willing to have contact are different issues thanks to modern technology.

While we don't believe a donor's identity is at risk by providing baby/childhood photos, we can understand how some donors may prefer not to do so and respect their opinion. Being willing to have contact with a child(ren) versus being concerned the whole world may have access to your privacy are two different things.

There are also circuimstances where a donor does not have access to old photos (he is away at school, his parents never took many, they were lost or destoyed at some point, etc.).

Hope this makes some sense. Not that it necessarily helps or answers you interest in a photo, but he is a good-looking guy (in my opinion).

    Best,

    Scott

  • We love seeing adult photos as an option now. Cant wait to see more with this option over time, so many donors missed out on this in the past. Hopefully if they are informed of the change they will offer it now.
