Future Availability 11436

I am on the waiting list for donor 11436, as we hope to conceive a sibling for our daughter. This donor seems to already have had vials returned several times. I continue to try to ask if it is likely that this donor will have vials available again, at some point, but the staff I speak to are always cryptic and short with me. I understand that there's a lot of privacy issues at stake, but this is our life and future we're talking about. I just want to know if I should give up hope and move on to a new donor. I'm not getting any younger! Thanks.

  • Hi K -

I'm sorry that you received a short response, but unfortunately we don't know if or when any vials may become available.

Donor 11436 is retired from our program and at this point, the only additional vials that would become available are from clients that decide to discontinue their storage accounts and/or sell back the vials. We can only take back vials that have never left our facility, and there are very few vials in private storage that would still qualify. Personally, I think the chances are quite slim, but it's also possible that someone could decide tomorrow to sell back their vials.

Reactivation is another option, which is where we can try to have the donor come back to the program to provide sibling vials. It's also a very lengthy and costly process as the donor must go through the entire qualification process. You can read more information about it on our site and if it's something that you are interested in, please call Client Services.
