Discouraged

Hello all. I thought it was about time to get some support from other women trying to conceive. I'm 41 and have been trying for a year now with IUI. I've had 9 inseminations within that year and nothing despite my doctor stating all my labs are great and my folicle(sp) counts are good. I've now started going to acupuncture, massage, and chiropractor to see if anything changes. I stuck with one donor for six of my IUI's and have since changed to several different donors. My doctor tried me on progesterone in December and that went horribly wrong after two months so now I'm just on clomid. Anyone else out there having difficulty conceiving?
I haven't tried IVF because I live in Alaska and the one doctor in the state that does the procedure is very selective about his clientele aka married couples. My insurance also doesn't cover the cost and one procedure plus injections and sperm is almost 7,000 dollars.

  • Humm...How many cycles have been with Clomid? Is your doctor open to using a trigger shot to help with timing the IUI? Has the doctor mentioned trying Femara (like clomid) or Injectables?
  • I would definately talk to your dr about adding other meds. I tried 4x with only Femara and the trigger shot. Then I approached my dr about wanting to be more aggressive. We did Femara for 5 days and a "boost" of injectibles (Menopur) for only 3 days. Then we did the trigger shot 36 hours before the IUI. It worked twice in a row. Sometimes you just need to play around with adding new medications or doing combinations. But don't lose hope. I would just talk to the dr about adding injectibles or making a change to the meds. Good luck!!!
  • Thanks for the responses. I will talk to my doctor.
