Pregnancy after Ovulation

My partner and I are presented with a dilema. I started ovulating today, I went in for a folicle ultrasound and my RN stated my egg has been released... Our specimen will arrive in our DR office tomorrow morning and we are contemplating on whether or not to try the insemination. Our RN is not a fertility specialist but states that it is possible to still conceive.

Has anyone experienced a successful pregnancy the day after ovulation started? How long is the egg actually able to be fertilized, as I am hearing anywhere from 12 to 48 hours...

Thank you
Karen and Anne

  • I say only up to 24 hours too, but look at my response to you on the Same Sex Couples Board for a more detailed response. :)

    Good luck!
  • 24 hours is what our office said. I did that once and it was a bust! I would say store it and try next month. I wish we had done that, I felt we wasted alot of $ that cycle.
  • Like MistyandCarla, I posted on the other board too...pretty sure its 24 hours max.
  • Our RE told us that egg is only viable for 12 hours. I would say unfortunately to much time has passed. I would save the $$ and the goods for your next cycle, when the timing is just right!! Best of luck
