time sperm lives in the body

I've heard that frozen sperm has a shorter life in the body than fresh sperm. What do you know about this?

  • Hi cj -

That is correct. Studies have shown that fresh sperm can live 24-72 hours after insemination. Frozen sperm lasts about 24 hours.

  • ...Which is why working with your physician to time your ovulation cycle as closely as possible is so important.

  • Thanks for that information. Someone told me that frozen sperm only has 8-10 hours in the body, so 24 sound luxurious. First insemination was yesterday, and I think it was well-timed. Wish us luck!

    Take care!
  • Another question: how can I track the threads that I am participating in on the discussion boards? I only see one thread (rather than the 4+ I have posted on) when I search by my login name. Thanks!
