new to california cryobank with questions

My partner and I will begin our first set of inseminations the 1st or 2nd week of April. I have a few questions to ask and would appreciate any input many of you might have!

1. I am 38 and in good health however, based on my age, my partners age (42) and the cost associated with this process we wanted to be more aggressive...would you suggest us having an HSG prior to our first insem? We were thinking we would try one time and if it doesn't work have the hsg.

2. we have been told to do 2 IUI inseminations each month, what are your thoughts on this?

Thank you!

I just thought of another question,

**should we wait until we get pregnant before using the Family today/tomorrow program?

**do you have any recommendations on what to do to help alleviate stress and prepare for the insem? Massage, accupuncture, etc??

    Thank you!

My partner was 36 (2 months shy of 37) when she conceived our son. Our RE had her do every blood test under the sun, ultrasound and HSG a month prior to us starting then once everything came back normal she agreed to inseminate. She wouldn't do back to back IUI's as she said it was just a waste of money and a well timed IUI is all you need. She also refused to use fertility meds unless she had 2 unsucessful IUI's. She was the specialist so we listened to what she said and the second unmedicated IUI took. We now have a 10 month old baby boy and are trying for #2 at the end of the year.

If it were me I would do the testing first and use only one vial. Also, the whole point of family today/family tomorrow is to ensure that you have enough vials of your donor for future kids so I would buy them today. Our donor sold out the same day we bought ours he is now retired and we are constantly looking for more vials but so are about 6 more families who used him!

As far as ways to alleviate stress she didn't do anything in particular. She would walk after lunch both to lose weight and lessen the stress but that was it. Good luck and loads of baby dust!

In response to your question about alleviating stress...we researched and found an acupunturist who specialized in fertility. We ended up having twins and continued with the acupunture which helped with morning sickness as well.

Also, I agree with the other post. Our fertility specialist would not do back to back IUI's and indicated that one at the right time is all you need.

    Much, much luck!!!

    Joy,

Check out the CCB Friends facebook page. Lot's of us blog on there, and I think you would find tons of feedback for your questions.

I was 33 when I conceived and I have polycystic ovarian disease and don't ovulate. I had bloodwork to confirm diagnosis and HSG test to make sure my tubes were patent. We used clomid and the first two months we only used 2 vials one day apart but kept missing ovulation so on the third month we used 3 vials and it worked. I got pregnant for the second time the same way. Clomid and three vials and it worked the first month but ended in miscarriage. I just started my IUI on Sunday with 3 vials. Hopefully it will work again!! My donor retired so I bought everything he had left. Good luck to you!
