IVF vs IUI

Hi! My partner and I had our first child, a beautiful baby girl, last June. She is biologically mine and I really want the next one to be hers. She has no interest in carrying a child. I wondered how hard it is to do egg retrieval on her, fertilize those eggs and do IVF on me with her eggs. Is it worth all the extra shots and time. I REALLY want a child that is biologically hers but it was so easy to have the first one I'm worried it won't work and I'll waste our VERY expensive vials.
Anyone with this kind of experience? Was it hard? How hard would it be on her to do the egg retrieval?
Thanks,
Danielle and Laura

My partner and I are just getting started with our first child through IUI which she will be carrying and will be biologically hers. We have agreed to do the second child the way you are talking about. We talked to our RE and she told us that some RE's will not do this procedure as it is considered "elective surrogacy" cause there is no physical condition that is stopping your partner (or me in our case) from carrying the child. Luckily our RE is from the Northeast (we live in Florida) where this is a common procedure for lesbian couples and has no problem doing it for us when the time comes (gosh we love her).
This is something to talk to your RE about first to see if they agree to it. It is as expensive for you as any heterosexual couple doing IVF no more, no less, this according to our RE.
If it is important to you and you can afford it then it is worth it, not that your child is any less hers but hey its always fun to have a little peanut running around that looks and acts like you ;)
