Looking to connect with someone who is ether going through the idea of choosing the single mother life. I'd really like to pick your brain.

  • kaiti,

I am going thru this process alone too, I turned 41 in Dec and decided I couldn't wait anymore. After I broke up with my ex boyfriend in Dec and with him being wishy washy about having a baby, I decided to go this route, because I figured I couldn't wait for MR Right to come along. I just had my third IUI done almost 3 weeks ago and found out Sunday that I am pregnant and blood work confirmed it today.

You are more then welcome to email me at dolphin84041@gmail.

  • I have almost the same story as you, Nicole! I am 41, 42 in July.

Congrats on being pregnant!! That is so great! You get to look forward to making your dream come true no matter what. (Then, Mr. Right will come along... you watch.)

I've been hoping to get pregnant. 5 tries so far (IUI), and nothing yet. That is a long 2-week wait after each IUI! Ugh.

  • Wow, I am in the same place. 41 n waited for the one! Starting an IVF journey. How have the hormones been? Worried I will be a blubbering mess. Lol. Congrats and much blessing to you all. Genny
  • Hi Genny,

I'm starting my second cycle of IVF. The first one was a great learning experience. For the most part, the hormones haven't been so bad. The subcutaneous shots are not a big deal. There is breast soreness/swelling and bloating and discomfort from the stimming. But, I haven't had major mood swings and two crying episodes (but to be fair--they were from frustration and stress). The only major side effect I have had has been a whopper. I have had an allergic reaction to the Progesterone in Sesame oil. Lumps and swelling are to be expected and actually giving myself the IM shots was not a big deal. But, the PIO causes lumps because it is thick. I had the extra complication of having a fever and infection. (I really felt that this affected the implantation process.) So, I'm hoping to use the Crinone gel this next go around. Best wishes, Li
  • Nicole, Genny, and others,

I have not taken hormones prescribed by the doctor, and I've only tried IUI. I wanted to see what my body COULD do before jumping into IVF. My hormone specialist later checked my hormone levels, and they were unbelievably low (hence, 4 failed IUI tries). I'm taking natural supplements and bio-identical hormones (see Suzanne Somer's work... wonderful... amazing.. 27 books out). I feel AMAZING, and can't wait to try again. I started premenopause about the same day that I declared out loud that I will make this baby thing happen. (Stupid hormones.) We don't have to go through premenopause or menopause! Thank goodness for Suzanne's work. Now to get pregnant...

  • Hi all! I am a almost 36 year old and I am recently thinking about going this route because I want to be a mother more than anything and time is ticking for me. I just can't seem to meet the right guy after my last relationship which left me really heartbroken. I am not in any processes yet just thinking about it and reading these forums and getting a taste of what it is like to pick a doner. Good Luck to you all.
  • Thanks Ladies,

Well I found out yesterday that I had miscarried between probably last Wed and yesterday. When I went in for my HCG levels on Friday they did not double like they were suppose to, so I went in for an ultrasound yesterday and they couldn't find anything, except cyst. So now I am waiting for my period to show up and for HCG levels to get back down to zero, before I can try for IUI #4.

I have only done medicated and monitored IUI with clomid and trigger shot.

  • Hello Ladies,

I just wanted to put a plug in for an amazing facebook group called "CCB Friends". It is full of women who are going through this very same adventure from all over the country. They have a great level of knowledge and experiences.
  • So sorry to hear the loss dolphin. I'm in a similar situation at age 41. I've had failed IUIs at age 34 and trying to decide what route to take. I wouldn't want to join a fb group to protect my privacy from friends and family.
  • Babygaga,

Thanks, it has been a struggle the last week, between the ultrasound, finally my HCG slowly going down and finally my period kind of showing. It would have been nice if it happened all at once, so i didn't have week long of reminders that i miscarried.

i do highly recommend the CCB friends group, it is a closed group, so only the ladies in the group see your post. I can add you, if you change your mind. The ladies in the group have helped me alot.

  • Hi ladies,

Its great to read about other women going through the same thing I am considering.

Im 35 and from Australia but I don't want to use an Aussie donor as the US has a lot more donors to choose from and appears to be more regulated and I really like that CCB has childhood photos, staff impressions and keepsake packets.

I have been going through donors and have narrowed it down to a few but I am not ready to purchase vials yet as I am not quite ready to start IUI just yet.

I am visiting the states from mid august to early September for a holiday and check out some options for IUI while there.

What is the first step to engage a doctor to give you IUI and generally what is the cost as our healthcare system in Australia is quite different from what I have heard.
  • Hi all,
I'm single and moving forward with the second part of IVF (as I've been calling it). I had my eggs retrieved and 22 frozen at 39.5. I'm 41 now. This picking the donor thing has been the hardest part! It's great to find this group as I've been peppering friends and my mother with tid bits about what's been going on and it feels awkward at times because it feels like too much information for others not dealing with this stuff. I'd love to join the FB CCB group.

One interesting thing that may be new and something to consider if doing IVF is the Natera Horizon genetic testing. Not sure if that's just new with my Fertility Center and others have been using it for a while? My results showed I'm a carrier for something not so great, so I'm meeting with a geneticist tomorrow for more info. I think they can test the embryos for it even if it's not standard in the usual genetic screening of donors, so all should be ok. Just another step/detail in a process that seems to have A LOT of moving parts. :)

  • Hi Ladies,
It's great to hear some similar stories to my own. I feel so alone sometimes. I'm single, 41, married and divorced young. I'm also tired of trying to find Mr. Right. A light bulb went off and now I'm on this journey to become a single mom. I'm so excited and frustrated at same time. I've tried 4 IUI's with same donor with 4 fails and now just purchased #5 with new donor (plan b). Last attempt and this one on 50mg of Clomid. Hoping changing donors will make a difference? Taking a long wknd with girlfriends before #5 and a vacation during the 2ww. Fingers crossed and baby dust.
  • Hello All!
I am 37 and single. I am in the diagnostic stage of all of this and hoping to start trying in September. I have never been pregnant and never tried. Last month, my blood work with the exception of the AMH was normal; as of Friday, the FSH was high. Needless to say I cried and the doctor said that it does not mean I can't get pregnant just that I only have a 5% chance each month. Given that the chance was 8% prior to this...I am just going with it. Anyone know of any success stories with these numbers?
  • I am a single mother - my daughter was born last year after a couple of IUI attempts, the second with ovulation induction. I was 38 at her birth but turned 39 about a month later. I have a wonderfully supportive family (sisters nearby, mother) and friends, but it has been a challenge to say the least. I love my daughter to pieces - she is wonderful and such a blessing but it is definitely the hardest thing I have ever done. She was born premature, and though she is doing well now, she has some motor delays that she is getting PT for.
  • Hello Ladies:

could you please add me to "CCB Friends'? I can't find this FB ID,my FB ID is :Nathalie Zhang, thank you.
  • Will someone please add me to the group? My Facebook is Savanna Faye Sanders
  • Hi ladies. I'm 32 years old and I was pretty much thrusted into this route in 2016 due to being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After chemotherapy treatments, the doctors wanted to preserve my fertility (if I had any left). I showed low ovarian reserve (as expected) due to the chemo treatments, so I went through 3 IVF processes to freeze eggs. So far I've banked 8 mature eggs and planning on doing as many cycles I can to ensure I have a good percentage to work with being that I have more treatments to undergo that would probably send me into menopause. I am planning on trying by the end of this year or early next year to try for baby#1 because I have never been pregnant and don't want to go into attempting to be pregnant at or after 35 due to the higher risks. I've narrowed my selection of donors down to 2 but the prices (geesh). I know that the cost of taking care of a child is more, but still. I was added to the CCB friends group on yesterday. I'm open to all conversations, so feel free to email me at songbyrd8403@gmail.com.
  • I'm 26 years old been waiting on Mr. Right but can't wait any longer. I have real bad endometriosis. Just had surgery for it again on the 21st of this month(February). That made my 3rd surgery for it. Doctor said can only hold off a hysterectomy for another year or 2 max. So I'm fixing to be starting this journey of my life on my own as I've always wanted to be come a mother and don't want to wait any longer and chance crushing my dreams. There's always a chance of Mr. Right coming along right? But not always time to wait for him to get here before bringing a precious angel into your life. I go on March the 22nd for my first ultrasound to start I guess pinpointing ovaluation? If I understood my doctor correctly. Thankfully I got the support of both of my parents and very few friends that know at this time. I will be having my first IUI done something hopefully soon. Want to make sure that everything is in order first. I've got my donor picked out finally have spent many hours, days, nights, and weeks on deciding which one to use. Someone please help me and support me along this journey. What all subscriptions have some of you ladies bought? When did you start thinking about names and all the other good stuff that comes along with becoming a parent??
