I am going thru this process alone too, I turned 41 in Dec and decided I couldn't wait anymore. After I broke up with my ex boyfriend in Dec and with him being wishy washy about having a baby, I decided to go this route, because I figured I couldn't wait for MR Right to come along. I just had my third IUI done almost 3 weeks ago and found out Sunday that I am pregnant and blood work confirmed it today.
You are more then welcome to email me at dolphin84041@gmail.

Congrats on being pregnant!! That is so great! You get to look forward to making your dream come true no matter what. (Then, Mr. Right will come along... you watch.)
I've been hoping to get pregnant. 5 tries so far (IUI), and nothing yet. That is a long 2-week wait after each IUI! Ugh.

I'm starting my second cycle of IVF. The first one was a great learning experience. For the most part, the hormones haven't been so bad. The subcutaneous shots are not a big deal. There is breast soreness/swelling and bloating and discomfort from the stimming. But, I haven't had major mood swings and two crying episodes (but to be fair--they were from frustration and stress). The only major side effect I have had has been a whopper. I have had an allergic reaction to the Progesterone in Sesame oil. Lumps and swelling are to be expected and actually giving myself the IM shots was not a big deal. But, the PIO causes lumps because it is thick. I had the extra complication of having a fever and infection. (I really felt that this affected the implantation process.) So, I'm hoping to use the Crinone gel this next go around. Best wishes, Li
I have not taken hormones prescribed by the doctor, and I've only tried IUI. I wanted to see what my body COULD do before jumping into IVF. My hormone specialist later checked my hormone levels, and they were unbelievably low (hence, 4 failed IUI tries). I'm taking natural supplements and bio-identical hormones (see Suzanne Somer's work... wonderful... amazing.. 27 books out). I feel AMAZING, and can't wait to try again. I started premenopause about the same day that I declared out loud that I will make this baby thing happen. (Stupid hormones.) We don't have to go through premenopause or menopause! Thank goodness for Suzanne's work. Now to get pregnant...

Well I found out yesterday that I had miscarried between probably last Wed and yesterday. When I went in for my HCG levels on Friday they did not double like they were suppose to, so I went in for an ultrasound yesterday and they couldn't find anything, except cyst. So now I am waiting for my period to show up and for HCG levels to get back down to zero, before I can try for IUI #4.
I have only done medicated and monitored IUI with clomid and trigger shot.

I just wanted to put a plug in for an amazing facebook group called "CCB Friends". It is full of women who are going through this very same adventure from all over the country. They have a great level of knowledge and experiences.
Thanks, it has been a struggle the last week, between the ultrasound, finally my HCG slowly going down and finally my period kind of showing. It would have been nice if it happened all at once, so i didn't have week long of reminders that i miscarried.
i do highly recommend the CCB friends group, it is a closed group, so only the ladies in the group see your post. I can add you, if you change your mind. The ladies in the group have helped me alot.

Its great to read about other women going through the same thing I am considering.
Im 35 and from Australia but I don't want to use an Aussie donor as the US has a lot more donors to choose from and appears to be more regulated and I really like that CCB has childhood photos, staff impressions and keepsake packets.
I have been going through donors and have narrowed it down to a few but I am not ready to purchase vials yet as I am not quite ready to start IUI just yet.
I am visiting the states from mid august to early September for a holiday and check out some options for IUI while there.
What is the first step to engage a doctor to give you IUI and generally what is the cost as our healthcare system in Australia is quite different from what I have heard.
I'm single and moving forward with the second part of IVF (as I've been calling it). I had my eggs retrieved and 22 frozen at 39.5. I'm 41 now. This picking the donor thing has been the hardest part! It's great to find this group as I've been peppering friends and my mother with tid bits about what's been going on and it feels awkward at times because it feels like too much information for others not dealing with this stuff. I'd love to join the FB CCB group.
One interesting thing that may be new and something to consider if doing IVF is the Natera Horizon genetic testing. Not sure if that's just new with my Fertility Center and others have been using it for a while? My results showed I'm a carrier for something not so great, so I'm meeting with a geneticist tomorrow for more info. I think they can test the embryos for it even if it's not standard in the usual genetic screening of donors, so all should be ok. Just another step/detail in a process that seems to have A LOT of moving parts. :)

It's great to hear some similar stories to my own. I feel so alone sometimes. I'm single, 41, married and divorced young. I'm also tired of trying to find Mr. Right. A light bulb went off and now I'm on this journey to become a single mom. I'm so excited and frustrated at same time. I've tried 4 IUI's with same donor with 4 fails and now just purchased #5 with new donor (plan b). Last attempt and this one on 50mg of Clomid. Hoping changing donors will make a difference? Taking a long wknd with girlfriends before #5 and a vacation during the 2ww. Fingers crossed and baby dust.
I am 37 and single. I am in the diagnostic stage of all of this and hoping to start trying in September. I have never been pregnant and never tried. Last month, my blood work with the exception of the AMH was normal; as of Friday, the FSH was high. Needless to say I cried and the doctor said that it does not mean I can't get pregnant just that I only have a 5% chance each month. Given that the chance was 8% prior to this...I am just going with it. Anyone know of any success stories with these numbers?
could you please add me to "CCB Friends'? I can't find this FB ID,my FB ID is :Nathalie Zhang, thank you.
