2 vials for IVF???

I am currently undergoing a micro IVF procedure with gentle stimulation expected to produce between some 3-4 eggs.
I was surprised to find out from somebody at my clinic's embryology department that they generally use 2 vials of (IUI or ICI) donor sperm for IVF.
I used my CCB donor for the previous 3 IUI procedures and although I was not successful , his numbers were good each time (33-71 milion). I was under impression that LESS sperm is needed for IVF as opposed to IUI and ICI and particularly given the fact that I do not expect to have more than 4-5 eggs for fertilization.
Do you think I need to waste 2 IUI vials for this procedure and is it reasonable for me to insist that 1 vial be used provided that the numbers are good?

Yes, you're correct. Less sperm is needed for IVF, but some clinics request 2 vials so that they have one vial as a backup. (A vial could be dropped, thawed too long, etc.) Since IVF is a more complex procedure than IUI, it makes sense to have a backup, so that in the event that something unexpected occurs, it doesn't negatively impact your egg retrieval.
I would suggest discussing this further with your clinic. If they insist upon 2 vials, maybe you can purchase ICI vials which are less expensive.
Best of luck,
