Pregnancies: No - 12093

Hi ladies, new to this forum.

DH and i are looking for a SD and we've found one. But the profile says there have been no pregnancies yet and also his long profile was recorded like 12 months back.

Am wondering, actually, I don't know what to think. Is it better to look for donors who have actually had pregnancies or does it not matter, all of them are pretty good? Please someone put me out of my misery.

Thanks, Eva.

  • I was wondering the same thing, I went ahead and chose someone that did just in case :)
  • I don't think it matters. All approved donors have acceptable sperm. A lot of the donors who don't have reported pregnancies are newer to the Cryobank (even though his long profile is 12 months old, the specimens have to sit in quarantine for a number of months so the process takes a while), so that's often a reason for the lack of pregnancies. We picked our donor when he had no pregnancies reported (his profile was a year old, his vials were released about 5-6 months before we started). Sure enough, after our first attempt a pregnancy was reported by someone. You could always ask the Cryobank when the first vials were released for the SD that interests you. Good luck to you both!
