Natural or medicated?

I have heard of many women who have done only medicated IUI's...do dr.'s usually start off doing natural iui's, when you have no history of fertility issues? I am confused as to if I should ask my dr to start off medicated. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!!

  • My doctor recommended using medicated IUI's as it increases your chances of pregnancy. I have no fertility issues. I had all the possible tests that could be done including a Hysteroscopy. Unfortunately, my 1st medicated IUI (with Gonal-F) didn't work. I used 75IU for 7 days and only had 1 mature follicle. My husband and I decided to go with Gonal-F because the chances were higher than with Clomid and I'm not getting any younger (I'm 34). I'm currently starting my 2nd cycle with Gonal-F. The doctor is going to increase my dosage to 112.50IU. One thing to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to use meds is that it increases your chances of multiples. Good luck to you!
