Shipping/Pick up fees... grr

My husband and I purchased 10 vials a few months back. We couldnt afford the shipping fee that is attached to it so we opted to pick up the vials ourselves at our local California Cryobank. Having to go in 3 times already to pick up the vials... we are still charged $50 each time! It just does not make sense to me. Why would we have to pay an extra $50 if we are making the trip to pick up?! I wish they would atleast build the fee into the price of the vial so I wouldn't feel so ripped off!

..... I must end by saying I have LOVED everything else about using California Cryobank other than this ridiculous fee :)

    I’m sorry that you feel this way. Please know that we started our Coast-to-Coast program to help cut down shipping costs for our clients. We also provide free storage and a free branch transfer as part of our Family Today/Family Tomorrow programs.

    Unfortunately, there are still costs associated with retrieving the vials from storage (liquid nitrogen, equipment, labor, etc.) and they are necessary in order to maintain our high quality standards. It wouldn’t be fair to build these costs into the price of the vials because the pick-up of one vial or five vials at one time requires the same amount of resources.

    Best of luck with everything and please keep in mind that we also offer a 50% buy back option in the event that you have extra vials that have not been retrieved from CCB storage.
