Timing two ICI's with frozen and thawed, washed/'IUI-ready' semen

Hello,

What would be the ideal timing for two ICI's with frozen and thawed, washed/'IUI-ready' semen?
How many hours after the ovulation test indicates LH rise?
We used chlomid (50mg) and will use clearblue digital advanced tests every 4 hours.

Thanks!

  • Are you working with a Dr.? From what I understand using an IUI sample for ICI, while not unsafe (as it would be the other way around), isn't too effective since those samples are washed of semen. The ICI procedure needs semen to help the sperm swim in. It's not needed for IUI though, so it's all washed out. I'm sure more qualified folks will weigh in, but timing might not be your biggest challenge here.
  • Yes, I'm sure someone from ccb an explain it better, but IUI vials are for intrauterine insemination. They don't have the seminal fluid sperm need to swim through the cervix like they would in an ICI where the semen is placed in the vagina by the cervix. An IUI puts the sperm directly into the uterus and should be done by a trained doctor or nurse. When sperm goes directly into the uterus, it must be removed from the seminal fluid first, which is why it's washed. So if you're doing an at home ICI you need ICI vials.
  • Hi P -

The timing of inseminations is very important and we encourage you to speak to your physician about those details.

As mentioned, if you are doing a vaginal insemination at home, we do recommend using ICI vials because they contain the seminal fluid that help the sperm swim to the uterus.

    Best of luck!
