Deciding which donor

I have my first appointment next Friday! 9 days away...whew...it snuck up on me quick.

I'd like some advice on choosing the donor. I thought I had it narrowed down to 2 or 3...not it is up to 5. 4 of them are newly listed, so there are no reported pregnancies, one does have at least 5 reported pregnancies.

Should I go with the one who I know has good swimmers, or do I choose by photo?

I was just going to buy the individual photo, but now I'm thinking of just upgrading my subscription so I can see all of their photos.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

  • I upgraded my subscription to the midgrade one, and made a cheat sheet on each donor, noting general info like height, weight, eye color, etc., their responses on the essays, staff impressions, medical history, and first impressions regarding the pics. Then I compared the info to narrow down. When I was down to three I showed a few friends and took their input into account. I did keep the info about the runners up, and I ended up switching donors once after three tries with my first choice.

I did think about reported pregnancies, but my first choice didn't have any because he was newer. I liked him so much I went with him anyway. Of course, it wasn't until my second donor that I got pregnant, and he had reported pregnancies, so there is that...

Anyway, hope this helps a bit. Good luck, hon!
  • I did the same as eeh876. I knew I wanted an open donor so that significantly decreased my choices. Then, I made notes. When I narrowed it down to 3 or 4, I have friends and family vote. My donor had no reported pregnancies. Most of the time, it is because they are new, and it takes a while to be selected, get used in an attempt, and then report the pregnancy. Mine now has a few reported pregnancies, and he worked for me twice. I wouldn't put too much on the no reported pregnancies info if they are new to the program.
  • Yes, my first choice is def open donor. Then characteristics.

You're right austingirl, all of them are new, like in the last few weeks new. LOL.

I am going to sit down with a few friends and let them help me decide.

Thanks eeh876 and austingirl....the advice helps alot. And congrats to both of you...I pray to report great pregnancy news in the not so distant future :)
