Just checking in!

Hey ladies! How have you been??? Any new success stories?? :)

We just had our 2nd ultrasound today!!! Everything went great! Twin A's heartbeat was 163 and s/he was flipping and turning all over the place. Twin B was a little more sedate...just a little movement...but his/her heartbeat was 165. The doctor and ultrasound tech said everything looks great. The babies are in their own separate sacs with their own separate placentas that are attached to opposite sides of my uterus, which is great...it lessens the risk for complications like twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome or vanishing twin, so I am VERY happy!! I go back next week (June 18) for yet ANOTHER ultrasound to check the nuchal folds for Downs risks, but so far all of my screenings have come back negative, so that is a relief as well! (Well, I am GBS +, but that's not a HUGE deal...just something we'll have to deal with later...apparently I've always been a carrier; they said I was GBS + with my daughter too and I never realized it...LOL!)

Anyway, here are our pics from today:

We've pretty much decided on names, too. If it's 2 girls, they will be Lily Rebecca and Teagan Lucy. If it's two boys, they will be Miles David and Liam Asher. And if it's one of each, we're going with Lily Rebecca and Miles David. :) Of course, we have several months to change our minds, but that's what we're thinking so far!!! I have a really strong gut feeling that it will be one of each, though...I find out next month and I'll let you know!!!

Anyway, hope all is well with you!!! Luck, baby dust, & sticky dust to all those who need it!!! XOXO

  • I just wanted to you let you know. I read your other posts and you are amazing!! I just had my first IUI on 5/23 and unfortunately it did not work. When AF showed up I was not dissapointed, but in the days following. I realized what an empty feeling I have. How did you stay focused through all your proceedures? I am gearing up for round two.

Congratulations on your beautiful babies!!! Best wishes and blessings.

  • Congratulations---you're an inspiration!

I got a BFP earlier this week, but low hcg levels for my first blood test, so I'm going back for another one today. Hope all goes well.

  • Thanks for sharing the pictures - looks like a miracle! Happy to hear all the tests are good, keep us posted!

On a technical note, can you recap your IUI - did they find follicles on both sides because you say each of the sacs/placenta are attached to opposite sides of your uterus?
  • Congrats!
  • Hey ladies! Sorry about the delay...I was out of town for a bit. I am now 14 weeks and everything is still going well! We had a 3rd ultrasound after 12 weeks and the doctor said, and I quote, "Both of them look great!" Can't ask for more! ;)

Recapping my IUI...I was on the lowest dose of Clomid that they prescribe. The first time, I had 3 follicles (2 on my right and one on my left), but my lining was at a 4 and they like it to be more than a 6. They didn't tell me that when I went in for my IUI, though...they did an Ovidrel injection 24 hours before the procedure and that one was a BFN.

The next cycle, I was on the same low dose of Clomid again, but this time they gave me the Ovidrel to inject myself 36 hours before the procedure. I was in the middle of a run of the show I was doing (playing "Bellomy" in The Fantasticks), and I remember I was supposed to have the shot at 11pm, and I was in the dressing room trying to muster up the courage to do it myself...and one of the other actors (the woman playing "Luisa") asked me if I wanted her to do it for me...so she did. LOL I just think it's funny that a fellow actress made me ovulate in the dressing room... Anyway, I had 4 follicles that time, and they were ALL on my right side...apparently my right ovary is a rockstar. They checked my lining when I went in, and it was a 7, so the ultrasound tech was really funny...she said "This one WILL work!" over and over again...she was so excited and optimistic about it. When I left, the doctor said "Come back pregnant!", and I was hoping I would. I took the rest of the day off work that day and slept...then at my show that evening, every time I was offstage, I was laying on the couch in the greenroom, literally WILLING my body to make a baby.

2 weeks later, I had a very FAINT positive on an HPT, so I bought one of those that says "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant", and I took it the next day...it said what I wanted it to say! I went in for a blood test, and at 13 dpo, my hcg levels were already a 66. I don't know how I knew, but I just had a feeling from the moment I knew I was pregnant that there was more than one baby in there. When I went in for my first ultrasound, they were talking about the heartbeat and the measurements and all I could think was "they are going to find another one in there..." and next thing I know, the u/s tech was saying "Hang on...I think you have two!". And sure enough, so it was! My fertility doctor said that I was the first patient he ever had who ended up with twins on the LOWEST dose of Clomid like that...he said every other set of multiples he had in his practice came from injectibles or a higher dose. :) I'm just super excited that so far, so good...I can't wait until December when we get to meet our 2 little miracles!!!

Oh, and we get to find out their genders later in July! VERY excited about that!!! :) Will keep you posted!
