12144 has a pregnancy??

I'm so glad to see that 12144 has a pregnancy listed! I'm planning to try with him just as soon as the doc gives the go-ahead. Is there just the 1? (not too long ago it said "no.")

  • Hi Abby -

    Yep. FYI...

Every single CCB donor is 100% capable of contributing to a successful pregnancy. They go through a long screening process that includes semen analysis that must place them in the top 10-20% of all males in terms of sperm quality.

Every donation is tested at the time of collection to make sure it meets our standards. There is no reason to rely on previous pregnancies when selecting a donor since every CCB donor over the last 30+ years has eventually had successful pregnancies (assuming they stayed in the program long enough to produce a minmum numner of vials).

It generally takes 6-12 months from a first release for any pregnancy reports to start coming in. 12144 has been available since March, so more may start appearing soon.

If you feel he is "the one" you have nothing to worry about.

    Good luck,

  • I was planning to use him even before it said he has pregnancies. It's just kind of exciting to know that my future child will have half-siblinigs out there. Wish I could just get all these preliminary tests out of the way so I could get started already!!
  • Good luck!

  • Sorry to keep bringing this up... I just checked again (just making sure that he's got vials available since I haven't bought yet) and now it says "no" for reported pregnancies. If someone miscarries, do they take it away from the reported pregnancies? I'm not a medical person, so this may be a silly question, but if a person miscarries, that probably doesn't have much to do with the sperm, right?

Also any updates on if he's going to have additional photos available? Or anything else interesting you can share about this donor?
  • Hi aj -

Are you sure you checked the right donor? He still has a "YES" for reported pregnancies when I just checked. His CMV status is negative; maybe that is what you saw? Either way, hid status has not changed from having 1-5 reported pregnancies.

No such thing as a silly question. You are correct. Miscarriage has little or nothing to do with the sperm. Sperm are basically just DNA messengers. Once the sperm enters the egg, its job is done. There can be a variety of reasons that cause a miscarriage, including issues having to do with the egg, embryo, uterus, or the body in general.

We have requested Childhood Photos from him but he has not provided any as of yet.

    Good luck,
