Donor 12273

My wife and I have had one IUI with this donor and now I am sad to say my 2WW is over when AF came.

Has anyone purchased this donor? Is no positive pregnancies a bad sign?

I think we are going to try again but the wind is taken a bit out of our sails right now...

  • Sorry to hear about your unsuccessful IUI. From what I've heard out of the CCB staff, all the donors have been rigorously screened and checked. So, I don't think that no reported pregnancies is a bad sign.

Also, my wife and I have selected donor 12273 and are planning our first IUI for around the 30th of this month! I'm really excited to hear that there's someone going through the same process with the same donor at the same time!

I've done a search on the discussion board posts and there don't seem to be many posts by people who have used this donor. I don't know why he wouldn't be a popular donor! He seems absolutely perfect for what we were looking for! Maybe he hasn't been frequently used and that explains the lack of pregnancies. I'm not sure...

I'd love to be kept updated with how things are going for you. When do you plan to try again? Was this first IUI your first try or have you used other donors or other methods in the past?

  • HERE'S A DISCUSSION POST FROM JANUARY ABOUT THIS DONOR. I THOUGHT HE WAS RELEASED IN JANUARY 2010. I DIDN'T REALIZE HE WAS ONLY RELEASED A FEW MONTHS AGO.

Can you give an update on 12273. I see he has no reported pregnancies. Just wondering if there have been any reported losses.
    Thanks

Nothing yet. He was just released in December and it generally takes at least 6 months for reports to start rolling in.

It is a safe assumption that he will eventually have reported losses along with his pregnancies. Unfortunately 20-25% of all pregnancies (natural or insemination) end in loss -- the vast majority of which have absolutely nothing to do with the sperm. Once the sperm fertilizes the egg, it has very little to do with the pregnancy's continued success.

Please note that peported pregnancies and losses have no impact on your personal chances of success and should not be used as a deciding factor in selecting your donor. All CCB donors have gone through extensive screening and are fully capable of contributing to a successful pregnancy.

    Good luck,

    Scott

  • WOAH! I just posted this to you and then went in to look at 12273's profile. He does have reported pregnancies now! It must have been updated today. :) I'm so excited!
  • I just saw that too! We are pretty new at this, first try didn't work as you see above but we will go in for round 2 March 20-24. Somewhere in there :)

Its great to hear about your process too. I wish all the luck to you and your wife!

Where are you? I would love to connect more.

  • Just bought the vials tonight and the last two items available for this donor- the express yourself and the audio interview. We couldn't be happier with our choice! So, I'm scheduled to start my period in a few days and then we'll inseminate soon after.

We live in Hawaii but are planning on relocating to Northern California soon. Where are you ladies located? If you'd prefer to email, we could communicate that way. However, my email address is my full name and I'd rather not post it on a discussion board! Do you want me to email you or are you not comfortable posting yours either? Have you purchased all the info on this donor? If not, we're happy to share.

    -Lauren
  • Lauren,

I am glad you responded, after I posted that I thought it might not be appropriate to ask where you were! We are in Colorado. I am not sure what the rules are with posting personal information like an email address. I'm going to read about the rules a little more.

We have purchased everything but the audio interview and we would love to hear it!

I am wishing you all the luck in the world with your growing family! Baby dust to you!

    Sara
  • I also purchased this donor. I will do my first IUI in May. I will let you know how it goes.
  • Sara- You can email me at LaurenandPam@gmail.com and I'll respond with the audio interview. :) I liked hearing the audio interview. I was thinking that the donor was maybe too good to be true and would have a super high voice or something. Ha!

Jenn- Welcome! Good to hear from you. If there's any information that you haven't already purchased, we're happy to share. You can email the address above and I'll attach the info. Where are you located?

  • Thanks. I am excited to be here. I live in Utah. I am excited to begin this process. I bought level III access.Any extra I would love to get though. I am also on california cryobank facebook page too.
  • Welcome Jenn - please let us know how things turn out for you in May! My next IUI is in about a week.
  • Hello! i just wanted to join in and say that my partner and i have also chose this donor. we will hopefully be having our first IUI at the very end of the month/beginning of april. it's exciting to see all of the people using him and especially the recent positive pregnancies! baby dust to you all! p.s. i'm from illinois!
  • Welcome Atwood! Please keep us updated :)
  • Welcome Atwood! It's pretty exciting that we all are trying with the same donor in the same months! :) I have had very regular periods for several years and (of course!) I'm late the month we're planning our first IUI! I've had an enormous amount of stress this month and I'm hoping I didn't throw off my cycle! I should have started my period on the 15th and I'm still waiting. :( Well, good luck to you all! Keep us posted!

    Lauren
  • Sara, How'd your IUI go?

I'm sad to say that I still have not started my period! After tracking my period and being on time for a year, I am REALLY late! I'm under a lot of stress. That must be it. I can't figure it out. :( So, I'm trying not to get too discouraged by it but it's hard not to get depressed! Also, if my period is this late, will my ovulation be off also? I know that day 1 of my cycle doesn't start until I start my period but may this make it harder to conceive this month? Anyone know?

    Darn!

    Lauren
  • Oh Lauren I am sorry your cycle is getting thrown off by stress! Have you been tracking your cycles for a few months before you got started? Talk to your doctor.

My IUI went much better than last time. It was a different doc and he didn't use the same cervix opening tool that the last one did. It wasn't painful at all this time and no bleeding.

I am in the middle of the 2WW and its hard not to think about every little possible symptom!

    Sigh...another week to go!

    Sara
  • Hello all! It's Danielle checking in with everyone. Lauren, you and I must be on the same wavelength. I've never had a missed period in my life, but this past month, my ob put me on clomid to help with the timing of my iui and not only did it mess up my ovulation, it apparently has TOTALLY screwed up AF.

I was supposed to start on the 18th and I'm still waiting. I think that I never ovulated at all as well ( I stopped testing because after my US at the beginning of this month, my OB told me that my follicle wasn't getting big enough fast enough, so she wanted to cancel the cycle and retry this next cycle with 100mg instead of 50mg to up my chances and not waste my money).

My OB called me in a prescription for Provera, so I start that tonight, but now it's going to be like another week or more until AF which is going to probably end up forcing me to pay storage costs for the DS, which is something i was majorly trying to avoid. i'm also just worried because like i said before, i've NEVER missed a period and have always had a 28-31 day cycle. I had a feeling that with my luck, once we TTC i'd hit roadblocks! i just didn't think it would be this!

I hope all is going well for everyone else! *hugs and baby dust to all*

    danielle
  • Good luck everyone. Please keep me updated on any pregnancies with this donor. I am thinking of using him with his next release.
thank you all and baby dust!!!
  • Any word on your AF's Lauren and Danielle?
  • Hi, Ladies! I did finally start my period. I'm on day 8 of my cycle now. Because my period was so late last month, my cycle was 37 days. So I'll start using the ovulation sticks on Sunday. The IUI vial arrives to my house on Tuesday but my doctor told me because my cycle was so long this month, I could ovulate anywhere from day 12 to 23. We live on a really small island and there isn't anywhere to store the vial to keep it frozen. So we're hoping that I ovulate before the 7 day window for keeping it frozen in the tank is up. It kinda seems like things are a little bit stacked against us this month. My cycle is all weird and I have a cold. But we're hopeful and excitedly looking for cervical mucus! :) My wife is certain this month is THE month. It's our first try so I keep telling her not to get her hopes up. How's everything going for you guys?

    Lauren
  • Hi everyone. I am very sad to report that I got my monthly so game over for now. Our donor is sold out so we will have to start looking all over again. We plan to try again in the fall after we save more money etc. We will visit a specialist this time.

Good luck to all of you who are trying!

    ***Baby dust to all! ***

    Sara
  • Not sure what happened to my post so I will post again.

I got my monthly AF and I am sad. Our donor is sold out so we now have to look for a new one. We will go to a fertility specialist next time and try again in the fall.

Good luck to all of you!

    Sara
  • Hi Sara, Sorry to hear that you guys weren't successful this time! Was that two tries with #12273? I don't know if it would work for you or not, but I was told that he has ICI vials scheduled for release at the end of April. I was placed on a list to be notified when they are released. Plus, they're cheaper! Good luck to you!
    Lauren
  • Oh really? Yes we tried twice. ICI is not as successful as IUI but I can ask my specialist if they think it would be worth it.

    Thanks!
    Sara
  • hey, guys! sorry it took me a bit to update! it's been a crazy couple of weeks. I FINALLY started AF on the 5th, thanks to the provera, and am now on days 5-9 of 100 mg clomid. I'm having a follicle u/s on the 18th and if all goes well then, we'll trigger and iui on the 20th. we are only able to afford 1 vial at a time, so we only have 1 with this donor and may have to move on after him if he sells out again. hopefully we'll be successful on the first go round. good luck to everyone and keep us posted!

    danielle
  • Any positives?
  • Had my first IUI last week...and today just started feeling some cramping. Crossing my fingers I got it on the first try!
  • Hi Jenn,

I will be using this donor in about 2 weeks so please keep me posted on your progress, keeping my fingers crossed for you. It would be cool if we both get positives. Hope there are some others who have had succuss, but I don't think very many vials were released on the last go around. Best of luck and much baby dust to you!

    Kim
  • Hi....
    Did you get a positive?
  • Hi Ladies!!!! I'm glad to see some activity here! Jenn- how did your IUI go? Have you tested yet? I'm 16 weeks pregnant with this donor. It took on the first try!

I'm more active on the facebook "CCB friends" board. Join us over there!
  • Didn't get it on the first try...have one vial left, will try again in september. I am really hoping it takes, as there aren't anymore available for this donor :(
