Feedback please! When to inseminate...

Hello ladies!

I had a very faint line at 7am on the OPK, indicating a negative LH surge. At 1pm, I had a dark line. What day and time would you inseminate?

My doc only wants me to test in the mornings and then call for an insemination the next morning. However, if I am surging in the afternoon, should'nt I do the insemination the next afternoon? I feel like it would be too late if I waited until tomorrow morning to test and then schedule the following day. Isn't it better to have the sperm waiting when the egg is released?

According to my cycle calculations, I should be ovulating tomorrow.

Thanks so much! Kari

  • Hello...sorry that no one replied to you in time. Just curious what you decided to do. :-)

    Here's how my timing went...

    Neg OPK in the morning
    Pos OPK at noon
IUI the next morning at 9am
    12dpIUI...BFP

    Good luck.
  • Hi, my my doc would do it the day of LH surge and the day after--IUI x2. Good luck!
FYI--although more expensive, I feel that the clearblue digital ovulation kits work best, no lines to figure out.
  • ohbaby...it's funny how every doctor is different. We wanted to do back to back iui's and our RE said it was a waste of money. Thankfully, for us, he was right...we got a bfp on the first IUI.

As for the OPK's...you're right...CBE Digital is the only way to go...no confusion.

    Good luck girls.
  • Thanks for your feedback! I went in the next day at 100. I had sharp pain in my lower left side around 6...I am hoping that was my egg popping out! I'm at 9 dpIUI, have not tested yet....trying to hold out.
  • We pretty much had the same schedule at Misty and Carla, and also had a BFP! :) Good luck!
  • kjett143...just checking on you...
  • BFN :-( Thanks for checking....here's to the start of round 3!
  • kjett143, Did you end up using donor 11521? He is also my donor. I have not been on message boards in a long, long time (it was getting too hard constantly read others postings after I was having so many failed IUIs). I am most happy to report, however, that I am now 6 weeks pregnant with donor 11521!! Best of luck to you!
  • Hi nella846!

Yes, we are using 11521, 2 unsuccessful so far. Motile sperm counts have been under 5 million each time. Congrats on your pregnancy! How many times did it take? How were your motile sperm counts? I would love to keep in touch! Do you have email or facebook?

    Kari
  • Kari...sorry to hear about your negative...the good news is that you now have proof from nella846 that he works! May this be your last TTC cycle and you be blessed with a BFP!
  • Hi Kari, this was IUI number 8. I had six un-medicated IUI's and this was my second IUI on 50mg of Clomid. None of the previous IUI's resulted in a pregnancy. This has been a long, hard process for us, but (fingers crossed) it was all worth it. I am still very early (only 6 weeks) and I don't have my first ultrasound until 7/13. I don't know about the motile sperm counts. Is this somthing that your doctor tells you after the sperm are unthawed? I wish you the very best of luck! Nathanna

  • So, I have been reading all thses threads on 11521. My husband and I just bought 2 vials. IUI next week, we have already done 6 cycles with my husband's sperm. I am wondering how kjett143 is? Did you get your $ back since the vials were less than 5mil? Did you get pregnant yet? I really hope our vials have better counts as our original problem are that my husband runs 0.3-4mil post wash. Would be very interested in what Nella's vials' counts were. And Nella, I hope your little bun is still in the oven.-Jen
  • My little bun is still in the oven! I am almost 14 weeks along! Besides horrible morning sickness everything is going well. I never asked and was never told what the motile vial counts were, sorry. I guess I never worried about it because the donors are put through such detailed screening to make sure they don't have a low sperm count. I wish you both the best of luck. Keep us posted!
  • We R now on the 6th day of the 2ww with donor 11521!!
  • Hello all - best of luck with donor 11521. I have had 5 IUI's so far, waiting 2 weeks to see if #5 took. Through the boards, I know of two couples preggo with him, including you Nella.

Yes, Jen, CCB did give me reimbursements for the lower sperm counts. I have had one out of the five that was above 10 million and it was only 10.5 million.

Nella - I'm so happy to hear things are going well! I can't wait t hear if you are going to have a girl or boy! Are you going to find out?
