Concerned Mom of Twins
Hello, I have recently watched the popular Netflix documentary "The Man with 1,000 Kids." If you have not watched, it is about a man who was accused of fathering 500+ children through sperm donation. As a result, the Netherlands are inundated with his children in a very small radius. I am curious, what actions are California Cryobank taking to ensure this does not happen with the donors your customers have used and had successful pregnancies? Do you have advanced screening of your donors to ensure something like this does not happen? Under your Safety and Security page it details what the company does to protect the physical location, but I am not seeing any information on how California Cryobank protects my children's future. Any additional details are appreciated. Thank you- Concerned Mom of Dizzo Twins

@DizzoClan they don't.. there isn't anything in place and they don't have to limit. They "try to limit" donors at 30 families but they rely on reported births not vial purchase and plenty of people on sell vials. Many children live in the same area and are of the same age. We found in our group 3 separate children in the same area. And several spread in New York and just outside. There have also been donors that have donated at both CCB and then other banks. This is the downside to using donor gametes unfortunately, even from major banks like this one. Until regulation happens and they can cross check other banks nothing can be done. My clinic told me there were others who had used the same donor, they must be close by but they did give me genders and year of births so I'm going to give that to my two babies so they know the risks.
