Where to start if i wanna be a single mom?

Hi there
I am a 36 years old woman. I have always studied for having a good life. Yes, I have a good job. But life still seems lacking. From my age, it's really hard to find Mister right. I've never had a boyfriend but I want to become a pregnant and having a child. So, I decided to be a single mom by using sperm donor from a bank. This thinking seems like a crazy one from view of others around me. In my country, sperm donations are not allowed to single parent. May I have your advise. Where should I start? Which country should I go for my dream? Thank you

  • Hello @kunmaie, I would highly suggest reaching out to the Single mothers by choice Facebook groups. Women there will be able to offer support and are in the same position. I am also international and picked this bank because of how easy it was to browse the profiles and everything seemed more straightforward than the other clinics I looked into. They offer free codes to so you can browse donors at level 3 subscription.
I'd suggest first doing your research into which bank you want to use. If your travelling to the US for your vials, I'd also make sure you are up-to-date with the current covid restrictions if any and quarantine periods. Good luck! It can be a long and isolating process, remember to keep reaching out for support and don't get discouraged!

  • Hi! I am also a single woman from another country and i chose CCB after flying from my country to LA in the USA, visiting the main premises (after a call to their office first to arrange) where i was greeted and shown around the premises and given all the advice i needed to proceed. I liked that donors had adult as well as baby pictures and some agreed to be known when the child turned 18. These were all huge reasons i chose this bank. I felt they offered everything I wanted that would lead to a mentally healthy child and they shipped to my country or would help advise where to get treatment if i came to LA for the procedures.

I found that when i first started researching becoming a single mum by choice, i felt like i was the only human that had ever done it…( hahaha!) now i realise i am one of many thousands of women doing this every year.

You’ve absolutely got this. Go for your dreams! Live a life with no regrets :)

  • @StayPositive Thank you so much. I my country, my idea is quite strange. Most of my friends did not get the idea. Thanks for your support.🙏

  • Hello, I just had my first interview with an IVF specialist and will be going through the journey alone. I too am 36 years old, I’m divorced and I know it will be a hard road ahead. I came here to find some support, and I’m encouraged to see that there are others choosing to go it alone! There’s no such thing as a standard family anymore so I’ve decided to have an unconventional family of my own! Thank you for sharing!

  • @RNBirdie …You’re welcome. I realized this’s a really hard way, but many others have walked through this way. Your massage supports me too.
Thank you for your sharing. Hope you have wonderful journey.
