My very last CMV question, I swear...

So I've been reading A LOT about CMV. Given the conflicting advice I've received, I want to be sure I understand how everyone is coming to their conclusions.
So the question is, once a donor tests positive for CMV IgG, are all of his future donations tested for CMV IgM during the quarantine? Or if a donor is positive for IgG but cleared of IgM once, do you assume from there on out that he is IgM- and his CMV is inactive?

It sounds like it would be best for you to speak to one of our medical directors, Dr. Jaime Shamonki. She is extremely knowledgable about CMV and will be able to clarify things for you. You can reach her at x1207.
Please note that CMV Total Antibody screening is performed on ALL donors prior to qualification and at approximate 90-day intervals thereafter.
