Q: When are you due?
A: We are due October 30, 2021! We tend to refer to the little one as "baby Silva" or "tiny alien". We have a name chosen already but want to keep it a secret until after birth.
Q: How did you and your partner meet?
A: We met while working at Victoria's Secret together in 2011. It was super early in the morning as we both worked stock and Heather was just sitting on the floor of the front room folding a new shipment box of panties. It was a time and place we least expected to find love, but we are so happy we did.
Q: How did the topic and conversation of kids/family come up?
A: We had spoken of the future many times before, especially after we got married and everyone began asking when to expect little ones. We would talk about how fun and life changing it would be on several occasions until finally we decided why not make an appointment at a fertility clinic and just see what our options are? After that appointment we were so eager to get our plans in motion.
Q: How will you speak with your kiddos about being donor conceived?
A: We imagine the conversation of how our child (or children!) were conceived should be discussed early on and casually. We don't plan to make it such a big deal to which our child feels it is a strange or uncomfortable thing. We'd like to keep an open and honest relationship with our kids.
Q: What would you like people to know about your path to parenthood?
A: Our journey was long, full of obstacles, and sometimes very heartbreaking, and this can happen regardless of the route you take. In the darkest moments, we had each other, and we had the support of our closest friends and family. Reaching this point seemed like a far-off dream not too long ago and we won't ever take this time we have with a growing belly or the precious moments to come with our baby for granted.
