2 IUIs and 2 BFN...what to do next

Hi All...So AF arrived today meaning that my second IUI did not take. I just was curious what people's opinions were on what to do for the next step. I spoke with the nurse at my fertility center and she answered some questions I had. But I just would like some real life advice.

Both IUIs were done with no fertility meds, I used an OTK and waited for my surge to go in for the IUI. My donor sperm seemed to have good numbers both times. The doctors were pleased with the numbers.

So the question is...
Do I have another IUI next month with the same donor? Do I have another IUI next month with a new donor (my first choice has now become available again, he was not before so I had gone with my second choice)? Do I have another IUI next month using Clomid? Do I investigate IVF?

Thanks for any and all the help and support. This bulletin board has been so helpful to me to read all of your stories.

  • I would do a medicated iui. Dont jump to ivf just yet. Average pregnancy to achieve with iui and medicated iui takes about 3 to 4 attempts. So, hang in there and dont give up yet! Good luck
  • I agree with Sweety. Try meds before jumping to IVF. Positive attitude bears positive results. Stay focused on your goals and good things are sure to come.
  • I had 3 IUIs before going on Clomid and using a different donor. The 4th IUI was a success. So don't give up!
  • Thank you for the advice. I decided to try again using a new donor. My first choice became available again so I'm hoping third time will be a charm. :-) Decided against meds so just a natural IUI again next week. Fingers crossed.
