My wife and I are thinking about using donor 13600. Just wondering if anyone has used him before? We are new to this and are just starting the process. We are hoping to do our first cycle in January. Any info to help would be great!!!

i will check back in after our appointment.
  • CONGRATS!! This is awesome news. We have been thinking of you guys. We are so happy you are pregnant. I hope your appt goes well at the end of this month. We are going to meet our reproductive specialist Nov 26 to have our first consultation. Can I ask a few questions? Just wondering if you did any ultrasounds or bloodwork before hand or any hormones or injections. Also how many cycles have you done? We understand if this is all to personal and you don't want to share. We are just so clueless to even where to begin. Congrats again!!!!
  • I think we may be a rare case. I can give you our experience and my sisters - because they were so different:
My wife and I went in and talked to the specialist - I did blood work and began tracking my cycle. I was supposed have an HSG because of the surgery I had in 2010 for a rather large ovarian cyst, but they were overbooked each month I could do it and I felt it was getting in the way of trying. I talked to my wife and we decided to try without it. The IUI was rather uneventful (not like the trip to get the sperm) I have never been pregnant before so my cervix was rather tight (plus I was two days after ovulation instead of one because we had to get the sperm) so the doctor had to open my cervix (used a tenaculum to hold it in place and helped to open the cervical passage with a sound – that was not fun but was just like cramps). We didn’t have an ultrasound or use any fertility medications. I got pregnant on the first cycle (but I am very early). My doctor didn’t think we needed to take medications until it was proven we needed to take them – we were ok with this because we don’t like the over medicalization of the body in general.
My sister on the other hand used one fertility medication then the other (I forget the names) and she had the HCG shots before IUI. Her doctor put her on medications right away because she felt the process was too expensive not to “stack the deck.” My sister and her wife are more trusting of the medical professions ability to control outcomes with drugs so they didn’t question it. She had an ultrasound with IUI so they could target the proper tube and on her final round they did back to back injections one at 24 hours and one at 48 hours of ovulation. On the third try she got pregnant with twins (born this June). One of her friends did the HCG shots only and I don’t know if they had the ultrasound or how many times she tried but she and her wife have a beautiful 3 year old.
I think it worked out nicely that my wife and I didn’t end up with my sister’s doctor because I think the whole thing could have been a fight. I know that there are no guarantees because I am still very early so who knows what will happen and we may end up needing to try again. If that is the case I would try again just the same as I did this round – if I needed to do more than that I would consider taking medicine (because it is not cheap to get sperm as you know)
The hardest thing is the 2 week waiting period - I overanalyzed everything I was feeling and it drove me crazy. I had residual cramping (not painful) from the sound and tenaculum it felt like there was a whole city of craziness going on in my uterus (cramps, twinges, pings, all kinds of feelings). Also, maybe because of my utero-centric metal state, I was an insane person. I am not kidding - I am not normally irrational or quick to anger, but starting 3 days after IUI until maybe day 10, I was pretty close to crazy. I wanted to punch everyone in the face for the stupidest reasons (not literally punch them but that kind of rage was totally inside me and I hated it - I had to take several solo walks while at work so I didn’t blow up at anyone.) Near the end of the two weeks I calmed down (and the cramping/twinges subsided) and I was sure that I wasn’t pregnant. I was getting all my normal signs of getting my period (boobs hurting, legs hurting, feeling heavy and tired) – I was disappointed and let my wife know that we were going to probably have to try again and maybe I would do the HSG in November. Then the next day I took a test (on day 13) it was positive (I took the test because I wasn’t getting the spotting that I normally get – instead I has a very normal white discharge that was more noticeable than usual).

We haven’t told our friends and family so I may have given you more information than you wanted because I’m so excited to talk to anyone about it!
Good luck to you – I hope this was helpful.
  • I am thinking about using this donor with my next cycle. I have had two unsuccessful IUI's with a different donor so I am thinking about changing it up. By chance do you know the sperm count or motility of your specimens? Thanks and congrats!

    Melissa
  • i dont know if the doctor looked at it himself but the paperwork said: Ct per MI =64 and mobility %=65
  • I purchased this donor today and should have my IUI in about 2 weeks. I am at cd2 today and have an ultrasound tomorrow. I would love to stay in contact if I am successful with this donor :)

    Melissa
  • i wish you luck.
my wife is a bit hostile to the idea of knowing other kids from the donor so i cant promise anything. we are still working through it - i told her that i really enjoy the blog but until she was on board i would stay anonymous.
    thinking good thoughts for you
  • Not a problem. Today I am cd5 and I normally ovulate on cd9 so I am almost there. I am excited to try this donor as I think he most resembles my son which I really would like. I hope things are going well for you :)

  • I also used 13600 for my 3rd IUI. I am 7 weeks along. Good luck to you all.
  • That's awesome! Congratulations! If you don't mind me asking did you use any medication?

    Melissa
  • Yes. Follistem and Ovidrel. Monitored IUI
  • I will be having my 3rd IUI tomorrow, which will be my first one with this donor. I am super excited :) Was it your 1st attempt with this donor?

    Melissa
  • It was my 1st attempt with 13600. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage. Not sure why. I am going to try again after the holidays.
  • I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you are doing ok.

    Melissa
  • Thanks so much. It was very difficult but I am starting to feel more like myself. The hormones made a sad situation nearly unbearable. Things have settled down now thank God. I may use him again. Whatever my fertility specialist suggests. Good luck to you.
  • I just found out I'm pregnant too with donor 13600!!! Fifth IUI but first time with this donor.
  • Congratulations! I will be having my 4th IUI next week, but 2nd with this donor. I am trying to stay hopeful :)

    Melissa
  • Congratulations! Tomorrow will be our 4th IUI, but first with this donor. Happy baby thoughts for the 2ww! :)
  • I will be having my 4th IUI, but 2nd with this donor on Sunday. Baby dust to all :)

    Melissa

  • We are very new to this as well. It seems so overwhelming! We are pretty sure we want to purchase this donor next week. I currently have level 2 access. Did anyone purchase level 3? If so would you say it was worth the information you got?
How many vials would you recommend?

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks!!
  • Hi everyone,
My fiance and I used 13600 with this IUI. This will be our second IUI, I'm currently 5 dpIUI. Last month was so terrible for us, we had used a different donor, so hearing all of these positives is so encouraging! I havent taken any meds and had an u/s prior to the IUI, I had 2 follicles, so that's a plus! I'll keep checking back for updates!

  • Hi everyone, unfortunately my last IUI with this donor ended in a chemical pregnancy :( I am starting my 5th IUI and am still trying to remain hopeful.

    Baby dust to you all!
