15337 - Likelihood of More Vials?

This donor is sold out but it says more vials may become available in the future. Is there a way CCB can tell if a donor is willing to donate more. Does CCB put in requests to Donors that are in high demand? At what point does CCB classify a donor as no vials will become available vs. when it says more vials are expected to become available but no guarantee? Are the donors considered retired if a certain amount of time goes by without them donating or does the donor have to specifically advise CCB that they are no longer donating. A lot of questions, I know.

@Bayleebelle Just to give you a brief explanation of the donation process, it takes about 3-4 months for an applicant to qualify to become a Cryobank sperm donor. (Less than 1% of applicants become Cryobank donors!) And donors are usually in our program for about a year.

Even after an applicant is accepted into our program, repeat testing is performed and all donations must remain in quarantine for a minimum of six months. (Here's a link to our Donor Qualification chart: https://cryobank.com/uploadedfiles/cryobankcom/_forms/pdf/brochures/donorpyramid.pdf ) This is why some donors have a message that more vials may become available. We cannot guarantee that additional vials will become available because we need to wait for future test results for these vials to clear quarantine.

Please note that we have family unit limits and our maximum goal is 25-30 families per donor worldwide. So even if a donor is popular, we don't just collect and distribute more vials. Also, when a donor completes our program, we can't simply ask them to come back and donate, even if the vials are only for sibling use. Due to regulatory requirements, that donor would have to go through the entire qualification and donation process again which is lengthy and costly for the family that requests it. This is why we highly recommend purchasing and storing vials for future use when they are available. We can never guarantee future vial availability. We offer free storage to help with your family planning: https://cryobank.com/services/additional-services/family-today---family-tomorrow/

Donor 15337 is still in our donor program and although we do expect more vials, we just can't guarantee it.

    Regards,
