How long does sperm live?

Does anybody know how long frozen sperm can live once inseminated. I have done alot of research and they say fresh sperm can live 5-7 days.

  • From all that I've read...up to 24 hours. (Not long enough) :)
  • From what my doc said, a couple of days...like 2-3. Fresh sperm lasts a little longer.
  • Look at these...I still say less than 24 hours...

  • thank you for all the help. MistyandCarla I did read those two blogs and it all makes sense. My partner is pretty regulard usually 28days with OV on 14th day so hopefully we time everything right. We have 2 ICI vials to insem with at home. Thanks again
  • According to both of the links (as well as a previous post by Scott from CCB) the 24 hour lifespan applies to washed (IUI) sperm and not unwashed (ICI), which is supposed to be able to survive 2 or 3 days.
