Ovarian Cyst and Birth Control After IUI

So I finished my first IUI with Femara, menopur, and ovidrel and got a BFN. Finally got enough courage to try IUI again so today I went in on CD2 for a baseline ultrasound/cyst check. I have a 21mm cyst on my left ovary so my RE delayed my IUI cycle and prescribed birth control (Desogen/Isibloom) for 21 days to shrink the cyst. Anyone had this happen? Does birth control really shrink the cyst? How long did it take? Which birth control pill were you given? Do cysts normally go away on their own? Please help I’m really trying to stay positive but I’m frustrated and discouraged.
