few pregnancies

I purchased a few vials of a donor who has been in the program since 2005. I asked how many pregnancies he had and I was told 'less than 5'. Does this matter? It seems like not many in over 3 years, or am I wrong? I am just worried, the last donor I tried has been out 10 months and still no pregnancies. I used him for 4 cycles and want to be sure I have someone now who can get me that positive!

  • FWIW, the donor we used has a profile date in 1999, had no reported pregnancies in January 2002 (but did by July 2003), and had fewer than 5 total pregnancies (or maybe births) as of April 2008.

I got pregnant on the first try with him, after 4 unsuccessful tries with a different donor.
  • Thank you! I am hoping for the same results you did when you changed donors.
  • sunshine, I would just like to tell you that after four IUIs and one IVF cycle with our first donor, we got pregnant on the first try (natural cycle, no meds, IUI) with a different donor, but not your donor. Who knows why? The first donor had achieved many, many pregnancies according to the donor sibling registry. He just didn't work for us, but the second donor we chose worked right away. Good luck!
  • I'm wondering after reading your posts if I need to change donor too! I'm having my 3er ICI tomorrow using the same one 11054. Did you asked your doctor how to increase your chances to become pregnant? B/c I did and she said I have 35% chances each time!! That's all.
  • My Dr said to just order enough for 2-3 cycles. I bought enough for 4, as I found it overwhelming trying to choose a donor and did not want to go thru it again. I just had a cycle with a BFN using a new donor, who I actually like better than the first! I bought enough for 3 cycles, and think I may consider IVF if this next one doesn't take. I don't want to donor search again.
  • My first donor had several reported pregnancies- but did not work for me with 3 tries. My new pick has zero reported pregnancies- but I'm hoping I'll get lucky with him!!!
