CMV status?

Could you please provide more details on what CMV is? How does a person get this? Also, should I only be looking for donors that have the same CMV results that I do? Thank you so much.

    I was tested by my fertility doc. If you are positive, then you can use a donor who is + or - but if you are negative you can only use a negative donor. Hope this helps.

    Please disregard Kellar's incorrect advice. CMV negative women do not need to use only CMV donors.

    CMV positive simply means that donor has been exposed to the virus at some point in his life -- not that he has an active infection. Here is more info on CMV which is similar to chicken pox.

    It is estimated that more than 50% of the adult population has been exposed and would test positive for CMV.
