How do you try to limit the number of offspring per donor?

    Hi Redcup -

    In order to limit the number of offspring per donor, CCB has been limiting the number of vials distributed for each donor for many years. Unfortunately, other sperm bank you are reading about in the news have not been as diligent.

    Our maximum goal is 25-30 families per donor. The average is closer to about 15 families.

    One of the reasons we stress the importance of reporting pregnancies and births is to help limit the number of children per donor. We do not rely on this voluntary reporting, but it helps.

    Is the limit of 25-30 families the same for open donors or is it less?

    Keep in mind the average families per donor is closer to 12-15.
