38 and thinking about having a second child.

This is my first time posting. My wife and I have a beautiful 2 year old little girl and we would love for her to have a sibling. I carried her and I am now 38. We didn't have an easy journey and I'm wondering if one child is what we were meant to have. Anyone around the same age wondering the same thing?? Thanks!

  • We are trying at 42. First IUI in September. Every situation and person is different, but we decided to give it a try!
  • Thanks for responding! I wish you good luck. Hope it works on the first try!
  • Hi there, I am 39 (actually turning 40 in a few weeks), I have a 20 year old daughter and my wife and I are now trying for a second child. I got pregnant in march on my 2nd iui...but miscarried at 6 weeks. We did our 3rd iui in August but it didn't take. We just did our 4th iui yesterday and everything looks good. Now the two week wait. If we don't get pregnant this time I think we will just jump to mini ivf...I'm not getting any younger. Lol. Some of my family members think Im nuts for wanting to start a family all over again now that my daughter is in her junior year of college but I think I'm just so blessed to have an opportunity to do it all over again! :-) Things will surely be different this time around...raising a child in your twenties is quite different than in your 40s. My daughter is so excited for us to finally give her a brother or sister, even if it is 20 years later. Best of luck to you and your wife, having a sibling for your daughter will be awesome.
