Factor XI testing

I'm wondering if donors are tested for Factor XI? If so can that information be purchased?

Hi Sj -

Below is information regarding Factor XI testing from one of our genetic counselors. If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact our Genetics Department at 877-743-6384.

"We do not perform testing for Factor XI on our donors. The genetic testing that we perform is consistent with the testing recommended by the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) and other professional bodies for individuals who are planning pregnancies. Genetic testing for Factor XI is not recommended as routine testing for anyone in the general population when they are planning a pregnancy.

You can obtain a copy of the Summary of Records (SOR) report from our Genetics Department at 877-743-6384. This report documents all the genetic testing that has already been performed on this donor.

In addition, we offer a Special Testing program through which additional genetic testing can sometimes be accommodated on a specific donor based on a client’s need. Our Genetics staff can help you understand if this would be an option for you for the condition in question.
