Is your child more like: you, your donor or both of you?

Does your child have more of your traits, the donor's or a good mix of both of your genes?

I guess the reason I ask is because I'm horrible at Math. I have picked out a donor that has "very good" Math skills/ability and "excellent" mechanical skills.
I know nothing is guaranteed and there is no way to know for sure if my kids will get my excellent English skills or terrible Math ones.

Is your child a carbon copy of you, looks more like your donor's profile or an equal mix of genes from the both of you?

  • My son is only 2 months old, so I'm not sure who he is like. I chose a donor that had some of the qualities I wish I had. I chose someone who is laid back and artsy, with an eclectic style. I am type A, conservative, and like to have things straight and neat. I think it is a crapshoot, you just don't know what you are going to get. Physically, I picked a donor that had the same appearance as myself so that he'd look like me. I have brown eyes and brown hair, so I chose a donor with the same, but it looks like my son is going to have hazel eyes! There is no guarantee your child will end up with anything you choose. But I will tell you that I love him more than life itself and I see a lot of myself in him because half of him comes from me!
  • Awwww.... how sweet!!!
I think it's too cute how he got hazel eyes. My future donor is birracial. I'm of a different race, so my kids will be tri-racial. They could come out looking like any of their races.
My cousin's ex gf is 1/2 Japanese and 1/2 Mexican. She was raised by her Mexican grandparents but came out looking 100% Asian!

Whatever my kids come out looking out, I'll love them more than life itself!!!

    Thanks
