Hi I'm a single mother who now has an 8yr old son, who wants to know about his father. I would like to get some advice on how to explain to him about his father being a donor.

Is the donor anonymous or open?
Kinda shapes how I think about it.
He is an open donor.
I typed a long comment that got erased. So the short version is my friend with twins explained it more in terms of having parts and that a nice guy gave her the parts she needed to make them and the pre counseler said the younger they know the better. Lastly a good book for moms of all families is what makes a baby by Cory Silverberg. Good luck!
When in doubt, go with the truth. I think your son is entitled to the truth. It’s his story. If he’s old enough to ask, he’s old enough to hear the answer. I’m sure it’ll be kind of awkward for you but let him know it’s ok to ask follow up questions.
